The No. 12 Texas Tech Red Raiders softball team extended their winning streak to 4-0 on the weekend, securing run-rule victories over UIC and Indiana at the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic. The Red Raiders’ offense continued to fire on all cylinders, producing 23 runs in the two games, while the pitching staff delivered stellar performances to shut down their opponents.
In the first game against UIC, Tech got off to a blistering start, batting around the order in the first inning and taking an 8-0 lead after the second inning. Samantha Lincoln earned her third win of the season, throwing 3.1 innings with four strikeouts and allowing three runs. Mihyia Davis and NiJaree Canady had a combined 7-for-7 performance at the plate, with Canady driving in two runs. Alexa Langeliers joined the home run club, blasting a three-run shot to left field.
AJlthough UIC managed to break Tech’s three-game shutout streak with a five-run fourth inning, the Red Raiders rebounded quickly against Indiana. In the second game, Tech opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly from Lauren Allred, followed by Alana Johnson’s grand slam, which put the Red Raiders up 6-0 after the first inning. The Hoosiers were unable to recover from the early deficit, as Tech secured an 8-0 victory in five innings.
