The Oklahoma Sooners’ undefeated streak came to an end on Tuesday, as they fell to the Dallas Baptist University (DBU) Patriots. The 19-13 loss marked the Sooners’ first defeat of the 2025 season.
DBU’s impressive performance was highlighted by their dominant pitching, which retired 14 consecutive Sooners from the first to the sixth inning. The Patriots’ offense also came alive, with Krauss leading the charge with six RBIs, a new single-game high for the program this season.
Grant Jay added to the Patriots’ tally with a home run, his 49th of his collegiate career, moving him into second place in DBU history. The Sooners, on the other hand, struggled to find their footing, unable to overcome the Patriots’ strong pitching and timely hitting.
Despite the setback, the Sooners will look to regroup and refocus as they return home to Norman for a three-game weekend series against Sam Houston State. The series, which begins on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT, will be streamed on SECN+ and broadcast on 99.3 FM/1400 AM The REF and The Varsity Network app.
Oklahoma will also have another opportunity to avenge their loss to DBU when they host the Patriots for a rematch in Norman on April 8. Until then, Skip Johnson’s squad will aim to put this loss behind them and get back on track as they continue their quest for a strong 2025 campaign.
The loss serves as a reminder that the season is long, and setbacks are inevitable. However, it also presents an opportunity for the Sooners to learn from their mistakes, regroup, and come back stronger.
As the Sooners prepare to face Sam Houston State, they will look to draw on the experiences and lessons learned from their loss to DBU. With a strong team dynamic and a resilient mindset, Oklahoma is well-equipped to bounce back from this setback and continue their pursuit of excellence in the 2025 season.
