As the Florida Gators prepare for the 2025 season, one player who is gaining significant attention is redshirt sophomore Bryce Lovett. With the departure of starting right tackle Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, Lovett appears to be the frontrunner to take over the position.
Lovett’s emergence as a key player on the offensive line is no surprise, given his impressive performance last season. Despite being a freshman, he recorded the 10th-most snaps of any UF offensive player in 2024 and earned postseason recognition by being named to the SEC’s All-Freshman Team.
The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Lovett has consistently demonstrated his versatility by cross-training at every position on the line. His experience playing guard has provided a solid foundation for his transition to right tackle, where he is expected to start this season.
Lovett’s strong performance in the team’s bowl win over Tulane, where he recorded 72 snaps at right tackle and was named to the AP’s All-Bowl Team, has only added to the hype surrounding his potential. With spring camp still in its early stages, Lovett is already making a strong impression, earning recognition as a practice standout by Dream Finders through Florida Victorious, the university’s official NIL partner.
Offensive line coach Rob Sale has been impressed with Lovett’s progress, stating, “He’s had a good first three days and had another good day today… He’s come a long way from high school to now. He’s growing up, getting better every time he gets out there on the field.”
Lovett’s pass-blocking skills have been particularly noteworthy, with a PFF pass-blocking grade above 80 in six of his 10 appearances last season. His overall pass-blocking grade of 78.5 ranked third on the team among offensive linemen who recorded at least 100 snaps.
While Lovett won’t be cross-training as much this season as he focuses on the right tackle spot, his history of training at the position and his recent in-game success provide hope that he can provide a seamless transition from Crenshaw-Dickson.
Center Jake Slaughter has been impressed with Lovett’s abilities, stating, “Bryce is one of the most special athletes I’ve been around, especially as an offensive lineman… He can play all five positions, but he just has great movement skills. He bends, he wants to do it, he’s getting better in the weight room, he’s getting better on the field.”
As the Gators continue to prepare for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on Lovett as he takes on the challenge of starting at right tackle. With his impressive skills, versatility, and strong work ethic, Lovett is poised to become a key player on Florida’s offensive line.
