The anticipation and excitement of March Madness have finally arrived, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders are poised to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. With a stellar regular season record of 25-8, including a 15-5 mark in Big 12 play, the Red Raiders have earned a well-deserved No. 3 seed in the West Regional.

Texas Tech’s NCAA Tournament journey will begin on Thursday, as they take on the No. 14 seed UNC-Wilmington in Wichita. The Seahawks, who are making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2017, will undoubtedly provide a formidable challenge for the Red Raiders. However, with their high-powered offense, stingy defense, and experienced lineup, Texas Tech is well-equipped to make a strong statement in the tournament.

The Red Raiders’ opponent, UNC-Wilmington, has a rich basketball tradition, despite having only one NCAA Tournament win in program history, which came in 2002. The Seahawks will undoubtedly be fueled by their underdog status and the desire to pull off a major upset.

Texas Tech’s selection as the No. 3 seed in the West Regional is a testament to the team’s outstanding regular season performance. The Red Raiders finished with a 25-8 record, including a 15-5 mark in Big 12 play. Despite being bounced from the Big 12 Tournament by runner-up Arizona, Texas Tech has demonstrated the resilience and determination necessary to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

At the heart of the Red Raiders’ success is JT Toppin, who has emerged as one of the most dominant players in the Big 12 Conference. Toppin leads the team in most major statistical categories, averaging 18.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. His impressive performance has earned him numerous accolades, including Big 12 Player of the Year and First-Team All-Big 12 selection.

Toppin is joined by a talented supporting cast, including Darrion Williams, Chance McMillian, and Christian Anderson, who combine for nearly 40 points per game. This balanced offense, coupled with the Red Raiders’ stingy defense, makes them a formidable opponent for any team in the NCAA Tournament.

As Texas Tech embarks on its NCAA Tournament journey, the team will be drawing on its rich basketball tradition. With 20 NCAA Tournament appearances under their belt, the Red Raiders have a wealth of experience and knowledge to draw upon. While their overall record in March Madness stands at 19-21, Texas Tech is poised to make a deep run in the tournament and etch their name in the history books.

A Look at Texas Tech’s NCAA Tournament History

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have a rich and storied basketball tradition, with 20 NCAA Tournament appearances to their name. While their overall record in March Madness stands at 19-21, the Red Raiders have demonstrated a consistent ability to compete at the highest level.

Here are some key facts and figures about Texas Tech’s NCAA Tournament history:

    – 20 NCAA Tournament appearances

    – 19-21 overall record in March Madness

    – One Final Four appearance (2019)
