FEDERICA BRIGNONE’S HEARTBREAKING CRASH: Olympic Dreams on Hold as Ski Star Focuses on Walking Again

Italian skiing sensation Federica Brignone is focusing on her rehabilitation after a devastating crash left her with multiple broken bones and a torn ACL. The 34-year-old World Cup overall champion’s injuries have raised concerns about her participation in next year’s Olympics in Milan-Cortina.

Brignone, who was discharged from the hospital last Tuesday, is taking a cautious approach to her recovery. “Step by step. First, I’m thinking about walking again, and then we’ll see about the rest,” she said. Her physiotherapy progress will determine her return to skiing, which is expected to take at least four to five months.

Despite the setback, Brignone remains optimistic and positive. “I’m a super positive person. What happened to me isn’t nice but it happened and I can’t go back in time. So it’s useless to think negatively. I’m just trying to think positively and get through it the best way possible.”

Brignone’s injuries are severe, and her Olympic participation is uncertain. However, her teammate Sofia Goggia, who has experienced numerous injuries, offers words of encouragement. “If she manages to heal well and put on skis in December, she will have plenty of time to prepare for the Olympics in the best possible way,” Goggia said.

Brignone is working towards small, achievable goals, prioritizing her recovery and rehabilitation. She shared an emotional Instagram post, showcasing her injuries and her journey, with a message of resilience and determination.

Before the injury, Brignone had an incredible season, winning 10 World Cups and becoming the oldest woman to win a World Cup race at 34. Her accomplishments on the slopes make her absence even more significant, and fans eagerly await her return.

Despite the challenges ahead, Brignone’s positivity and determination are inspiring. As she navigates her rehabilitation, her focus on small steps and achievable goals will be crucial in her journey back to competitive skiing. The question on everyone’s mind is: will she make it to the Olympics? Only time will tell.
