Former Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins has signed a one-year contract with the Denver Broncos, worth $2.75 million with potential incentives of up to $5 million. Dobbins, a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, had a promising start to his career with the Baltimore Ravens but faced challenges due to injuries. Last season, he played for the Los Angeles Chargers, rushing for 905 yards and nine touchdowns.
Dobbins joins a talented running back group in Denver, which includes Audric Estime, Jaleel McLaughlin, Blake Watson, and Tyler Badie. The team also drafted RJ Harvey from Central Florida in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
During his time at Ohio State, Dobbins set a program record with 2,003 rushing yards in 2019 and accumulated 4,459 yards and 38 touchdowns. His experience and talent will be valuable assets to the Broncos.
In other news, the NCAA has introduced rule changes for college basketball, allowing coaches to challenge certain calls, including out-of-bounds and basket interference. Coaches can initiate a challenge by calling a timeout, and successful challenges will earn an additional review for the game. The NCAA has also revised its policy on contact to the groin area, enabling officials to assess a Flagrant 1 foul instead of automatically ejecting players with a Flagrant 2 foul. These changes aim to improve the accuracy of officiating and player safety.
