Jake E. Lee, former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist, has finally spoken about his firing from the band in the mid-1980s. Lee revealed that his dismissal was “a business move” and though it was a shock, he didn’t take it personally.
Lee found out about his firing through his roommate and guitar tech after having dinner with Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife and manager. Sharon had told Lee she’d take him out for dinner to discuss something, but Lee had no idea it was to inform him of his firing.
Despite the abrupt end to their professional relationship, Lee expressed that he still liked Ozzy and Sharon even after being let go. He chose not to engage in a public battle with Ozzy, knowing it would ultimately favor the more famous frontman. Lee emphasized that he was “proud to have been a part of that” time with Ozzy.
There were disagreements over credits on Ozzy’s album “Bark at the Moon.” Lee felt “screwed over” regarding writing credits and publishing claims. Sharon Osbourne disputes Lee’s claims, stating he “got his credit. He got paid” but wanted more.
Interestingly, Jake E. Lee was invited to participate in Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell show “Back to the Beginning” in July 2025. Lee expressed it was “thrilling” to be part of the event. He plans to play “The Ultimate Sin” instead of “Bark at the Moon” due to wrist issues and arthritis.
