Lindsey Vonn, the Olympic ski champion and one of the greatest racers in Alpine skiing history, has made a remarkable comeback to the World Cup after a six-year hiatus. At 40 years old, Vonn returned to competition with a smile, spreading winter vibes and sunshine among fans and fellow athletes alike.
Vonn made her comeback in December 2024 at Beaver Creek, Colorado, finishing sixth in the downhill event despite making a few mistakes. She aims to participate in the 2026 Milan Cortina Games, with the women’s Alpine skiing events held in Cortina d’Ampezzo, where she holds the record of 12 victories. After a knee replacement in 2024, Vonn reported skiing without pain, describing it as a “completely new world” for her.
Vonn finished sixth in the downhill and fourth in the Super G in St. Anton recently. She crashed during a training run in Cortina d’Ampezzo in January 2025 but managed to ski to the bottom despite discomfort.
Vonn holds records for World Cup wins in downhill (43) and Super G (28). She’s a three-time Olympic medalist, winning a downhill gold and Super G bronze at Vancouver 2010 and a bronze in downhill at PyeongChang 2018.
