Mikaela Shiffrin, the most decorated alpine ski racer in World Cup history, has been dialing in her preparations for an “extra important Olympic winter” leading up to the 2026 Winter Games in Milano Cortina, Italy. Recently, Shiffrin shared impressions from her summer-training camp in Chile, where she fine-tuned her Atomic ski equipment with the help of her long-time service team, Robert Bürgler and Lukas Rottinger.
Shiffrin took to the high-altitude slopes above Santiago, Chile, specifically at El Colorado, to optimize her ski setup. She shared happy snaps and videos from the camp on her Instagram account, showing snowmobiles laden with dozens of Atomic skis on the slopes. “Snowy Silly already on day 1,” Shiffrin wrote, highlighting the fun and productive time with her Atomic technicians.
With only about 55 days left until the season opener at Sölden, Austria, Shiffrin is intensifying her training. The upcoming winter is crucial for Shiffrin, aiming to perform exceptionally well at the 2026 Winter Olympics. After a challenging season last year that included a serious injury at Killington, Vermont, Shiffrin has been transparent about her mental health and recovery.
Atomic has been Shiffrin’s lifelong equipment partner, playing a key role in her pre-season preparation. Shiffrin goes through about 80 pairs of skis in a season, considering factors like snow conditions, bindings, and ski construction for each race. Her preferred ski for giant slalom turns is the Atomic Redster G9.
