Wout van Aert has admitted to feeling a dip in motivation following the Tour de France, with no major goals left in his season. Despite getting back on track at the ADAC Hamburg Classic and Lidl Deutschland Tour, he struggled to make a significant impact on the results, partly due to his role supporting teammate Matthew Brennan’s two stage victories for Visma | Lease a Bike. “I noticed it in Hamburg, and it was the same here,” Van Aert told Het Nieuwsblad. “After the Tour, I’ve lost some form, and when you can’t compete in the finale, it’s disappointing. Still, I’ve enjoyed these past few days.” He noted that his legs improved daily during the stage race, boosting his drive to keep pushing in the coming month. Looking ahead to the Bretagne Classic, Canadian WorldTour Classics in Québec and Montreal, and the SUPER 8 Classic, Van Aert hopes to deliver stronger performances before his well-earned end-of-season break.
