“You’re doing amazing”. Mikaela Shiffrin shows her support with heartfelt words for fiancé Aleksander Kilde ahead of his first Super-G training

In a heartwarming display of love and encouragement, alpine skiing superstar Mikaela Shiffrin recently took to social media to express her unwavering support for her fiancé, Norwegian ski racer Aleksander Kilde, as he prepares for his first Super-G training session following a challenging recovery from a devastating injury. Shiffrin’s heartfelt words, “You’re doing amazing,” accompanied a post that resonated deeply with fans, showcasing the strength of their bond both on and off the slopes.

Kilde, a two-time Olympic medalist and former overall World Cup champion, has been sidelined since January 2024 after a brutal crash during a downhill race in Wengen, Switzerland. The high-speed incident resulted in a dislocated shoulder, two torn ligaments, and a severe laceration on his calf, requiring immediate surgery. Complications from an infection in his shoulder further delayed his recovery, necessitating additional surgeries, with the most recent in October 2024. Despite these setbacks, Kilde has shown remarkable resilience, returning to training in Chile as he gears up for the 2025-26 season, with a key focus on the Beaver Creek downhill race, now just 100 days away.

Shiffrin, the record-breaking American skier with 101 World Cup victories, has been a constant pillar of support for Kilde throughout his recovery. The couple, who announced their engagement in April 2024, have frequently shared glimpses of their journey together, from playful training sessions to emotional milestones. In a recent Instagram post, Shiffrin shared her admiration for Kilde’s determination, writing, “Though I’m heartbroken for Aleks as he continues to deal with lingering injuries related to his horrific crash in Wengen, I am SO inspired by his drive, positivity, and overall attitude as he’s dealt with obstacle after obstacle.”

Kilde’s return to Super-G training marks a significant step in his comeback, as he aims to compete at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina, Italy. His training in Chile, where Shiffrin has also joined him, has been intense yet infused with their signature lighthearted moments, including synchronized dance routines that have charmed fans. In a video update from Chile, Kilde expressed his excitement, stating, “Ok guys, we’re back  skiing in Chile. 100 days to the Beaver Creek downhill. I’ll keep you guys in the loop, can’t wait to bring you along for the ride!”

Shiffrin’s support extends beyond words, as she continues to balance her own demanding career while cheering on Kilde. Despite her own challenges, including a serious crash in November 2024 at Killington, Vermont, Shiffrin has maintained her dominance, securing her 100th and 101st World Cup wins in Sestriere and Sun Valley earlier this year. Kilde, in turn, has been equally vocal about his pride in Shiffrin’s achievements, calling her “the greatest skier (and human) of all time” after her historic 100th victory.

The skiing power couple’s mutual encouragement has not gone unnoticed. Fellow athletes, including Lindsey Vonn, who commented with a single word of support—“Inspiring”—have rallied behind Kilde’s comeback. Fans, too, have flooded social media with messages urging Kilde to “fight back,” a sentiment he acknowledged in an interview with Ski Racing, saying, “Every time I meet people and they say, ‘You need to fight back, because we need you back in the sport,’ it’s just amazing.”

As Kilde prepares for his Super-G training, Shiffrin’s heartfelt words serve as a reminder of the strength they draw from each other. With the 2026 Olympics on the horizon, the couple’s shared passion for skiing and their unbreakable support system promise to inspire both on the slopes and beyond. Fans eagerly await Kilde’s return to competitive racing, confident that with Shiffrin by his side, he’ll rise to the challenge once again.
