In a candid reflection on her life and career, alpine skiing legend Mikaela Shiffrin has spoken glowingly about her fiancé, Norwegian skier Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, declaring, “I don’t think I could have found someone better.”
The 30-year-old American, who holds a record 100 World Cup wins as of early 2025, has been in a relationship with Kilde since 2021. The couple announced their engagement in April 2024, a milestone built on years of mutual support through injury, recovery, and the pressures of elite competition.
Shiffrin has frequently praised Kilde’s resilience, especially after his serious crash in January 2024 that left him with a dislocated shoulder and deep calf laceration requiring multiple surgeries. “This guy puts everything into perspective,” she wrote in a March 2025 social media tribute during his rehabilitation.
Kilde, 33, a former World Cup overall champion, has been equally open about their bond. Recalling his proposal, he said, “In that moment, I knew she was the woman of my life.” The couple has chosen to share their journey publicly, with Shiffrin explaining in October 2025 that their openness stems from the strength they draw from each other.
Despite their engagement, wedding plans remain on hold as both athletes prepare for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina. Shiffrin, who has also faced her own injuries and personal challenges—including the loss of her father in 2020—credits Kilde’s unwavering support as a cornerstone of her emotional and professional life.
“We share each other’s successes,” Shiffrin told NBC Olympics, underscoring how they celebrate triumphs and navigate setbacks together.
As the new ski season nears, Shiffrin and Kilde—widely regarded as the sport’s golden couple—continue to exemplify resilience, partnership, and authenticity both on and off the snow. Their story is not just one of athletic excellence, but of a profound connection that strengthens them through every challenge.
