Alpine skiing legend Mikaela Shiffrin has launched her new podcast, What’s the Point with Mikaela Shiffrin, with a revealing 90-minute conversation featuring her fiancé and fellow World Cup racer, Norway’s Aleksander Aamodt Kilde.
The debut episode, released this week, offers fans an unfiltered look into the lives of two of the sport’s biggest stars. Shiffrin, the most successful alpine skier in history with 101 World Cup wins, introduced Kilde—a two-time Olympic medalist and dominant force in speed events—as “one of the greatest speed skiers of our generation, true Viking, and brown cheese connoisseur.”
The couple discussed the physical and emotional demands of elite ski racing, including the grueling recoveries from major injuries that have marked both their careers. They also explored the challenges of maintaining a relationship amid demanding travel schedules and extended separations during the competitive season.
Shiffrin and Kilde spoke openly about resilience, the role of humor in healing, and their shared experiences navigating high-stakes competition. The conversation touched on future aspirations, including subtle hints about starting a family after their racing careers wind down.
The podcast represents an extension of Shiffrin’s growing interest in storytelling and athlete wellness, following her earlier acknowledgment that a conversation with rival Petra Vlhová inspired the project. Episodes are planned for biweekly release throughout the winter season, with a total of eight to ten installments expected.
The launch comes as Shiffrin returns to competition after a strong off-season of training and recovery. She recently placed fourth in the season-opening giant slalom in Sölden, Austria, signaling her continued pursuit of excellence on the slopes.
With What’s the Point, Shiffrin aims to pull back the curtain on the human side of professional skiing, fostering deeper connections with fans while amplifying voices within the sport. The debut episode is now available on YouTube and major podcast platforms.
