American skiing superstar Mikaela Shiffrin continued her blistering start to the 2025-26 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup season on Sunday, cruising to victory in the women’s slalom in Gurgl, Austria. The win marks her second consecutive World Cup triumph in just seven days, further solidifying her status as the most decorated skier in history.
Shiffrin, 30, delivered a near-flawless performance across both runs, finishing 0.92 seconds ahead of the field to secure her 99th career World Cup victory. Albania’s Lara Colturi, competing in only her second full World Cup season at age 19, earned a career-best second place, while Switzerland’s Camille Rast rounded out the podium in third.
The triumph follows Shiffrin’s victory last weekend in Levi, Finland, and comes after she returned to competition in October following a brief injury layoff. Known for her technical precision and mental resilience, Shiffrin appeared fully in command on the demanding Gurgl course, delighting American fans and adding another chapter to her legendary career.
With the milestone of 100 World Cup wins now within reach, Shiffrin remains the clear favorite heading into the North American swing of the tour, which includes the highly anticipated races at Killington, Vermont, next weekend.
