Mikaela Shiffrin just skied away from the entire planet, again.
The queen of slalom needed exactly two runs Sunday to remind everyone why the record books already have her name in permanent ink. Combined time: 1:48.75. Winning margin: a ridiculous 1.57 seconds. Career World Cup victory number 104 is officially in the bag.
Germany’s Lena Dürr, no slouch herself, crossed the line second and immediately laughed at the scoreboard. Eighteen-year-old Lara Colturi rounded out the podium for Albania, but the story was written long before the final racer clicked into the start gate.
Shiffrin’s own words said it best, posted seconds after she stopped the clock:
“I connected so nice it was beautiful.”
That’s not bragging. That’s just what happens when the greatest technical skier in history finds perfect snow, perfect rhythm, and a home crowd roaring 30 minutes from her front door.
The numbers are absurd:
67th slalom win (most ever, by miles)
Perfect 300 points in slalom this season
90-point lead in the overall World Cup after four races
Automatic qualification for Milano Cortina 2026 sealed before December even started
One year ago to the day, Shiffrin was airlifted off this same Copper Mountain slope with a season-threatening injury. Sunday she returned and delivered the biggest slalom beatdown since… well, probably the last time she felt this locked in.
The American women’s depth showed flashes — Paula Moltzan charged to eighth — but when Shiffrin is skiing like this, depth doesn’t matter. Second place is the victory.
Next weekend the tour heads to Tremblant. Everyone else is already racing for the remaining 80 points.
104 wins. 1.57 seconds. One sentence that says it all.
Beautiful indeed. 🇺🇸
