Alpine skiing stars Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, one of the sport’s most admired couples, have melted fans’ hearts with a touching social media moment that highlights their unwavering support for each other amid a difficult season.
Just weeks after Shiffrin secured her historic 100th World Cup victory, the American double Olympic champion took to Instagram to post a loving tribute to her fiancé, Norway’s Aleksander Aamodt Kilde.
“About time for an @akilde appreciation post… This has been a challenging season on many levels, but this guy puts everything into perspective,” Shiffrin wrote. “His positivity and spirit while dealing with his own injuries and continued recovery has been an absolute inspiration for me and so many others. I’m so thankful that I get to hold his love in my heart .
Kilde, who recently underwent another shoulder surgery and has missed the entire 2024/25 World Cup season due to lingering injuries, replied with a simple but powerful message: “🥺 It takes two to tango ❤️.”
Shiffrin responded with a string of melting-face emojis and more hearts, perfectly capturing the couple’s playful yet profound connection.
Both athletes have faced significant setbacks this season. Shiffrin suffered a frightening abdominal injury in a crash in November 2024, while Kilde continues a long recovery from a serious crash in Wengen in January 2024 that disrupted his entire previous campaign.
Despite the physical and emotional challenges, the pair have remained each other’s biggest cheerleaders as they both set their sights on a strong return at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
Their public display of love and mutual respect has resonated widely among fans, serving as a reminder that even at the elite level of sport, partnership and gratitude can be the greatest strengths.
