Mikaela Shiffrin Heads to Tremblant Seeking First Giant Slalom Podium of the Season

Fresh off her 104th career World Cup victory, American alpine skiing icon Mikaela Shiffrin travels north to Mont Tremblant this weekend (6–7 December) for back-to-back women’s giant slalom races as she looks to kick-start her 2025/26 season in the discipline.

The 30-year-old from Vail, Colorado, has been untouchable in slalom so far this winter, reeling off three straight victories in Levi, Gurgl and most recently Copper Mountain last weekend. That triumph in Colorado six days ago marked her 104th World Cup win, extending her all-time record.

In giant slalom, however, the five-time overall crystal globe winner is still searching for top form. She opened the season with a solid fourth place in Sölden and followed it with a 14th-place finish in Killington before placing outside the points in Copper Mountain. Shiffrin currently sits sixth in the GS standings.

Despite the slower GS start, Shiffrin enters the Canadian double-header as the overwhelming leader of the overall World Cup standings with 368 points, 90 ahead of teenage sensation Lara Colturi of Albania and 144 clear of Germany’s Lena Dürr.

Tremblant has happy memories for the American superstar: she won both giant slaloms held here in December 2023 on her way to a record-breaking 2023/24 campaign.

Weekend Schedule – Women’s Giant Slalom, Tremblant (local Eastern Time):

    Saturday 6 December: 1st run 11:00, 2nd run 14:00

    Sunday 7 December: 1st run 10:00, 2nd run 13:00

    How to watch:

    USA: Live on Peacock

    Canada: CBC Sports

    Europe: Eurosport & Discovery+

Rest of world without rights holder: Free livestream on FIS TV and the FIS app

With the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games now less than 14 months away, every race weekend is precious fine-tuning for Shiffrin as she chases an unprecedented third Olympic giant slalom gold medal to go with her titles from PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022.

Action gets underway Saturday morning on the Flying Mile slope in Quebec.
