The alpine skiing world converges on the slopes of Mont-Tremblant this weekend as American superstar Mikaela Shiffrin brings her phenomenal winning momentum to Quebec for back-to-back Giant Slalom races.
Fresh off a decisive victory at Copper Mountain, Colorado, last weekend, Shiffrin, 29, is targeting career wins #104 and #105 as she competes in the first-ever women’s World Cup events held at the Canadian resort.
Shiffrin, already the most successful alpine skier in history with 103 World Cup victories, is showing no signs of slowing down. Her recent form has been dominant across multiple disciplines, positioning her as the clear favorite heading into Saturday and Sunday’s events.
The highly anticipated weekend marks a significant moment for Canadian ski racing, bringing one of the sport’s all-time greats to a new venue. Fans lining the finish area are eager to watch Shiffrin navigate the steep and technical “Flying Mile” course.
“The energy here in Mont-Tremblant is incredible,” Shiffrin shared with reporters ahead of the race. “The conditions look fantastic, and I’m just focused on putting down clean runs and enjoying the challenge.”
While Shiffrin is the name on everyone’s lips, strong competition is expected from Italian powerhouse Federica Brignone and Swiss star Lara Gut-Behrami, both of whom have been pushing Shiffrin hard in recent Giant Slalom events.
The first runs are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday morning, with second runs following in the afternoon. All eyes will be on the clock as Shiffrin aims to add another chapter to her storied career and extend her “hot streak” on Canadian snow.
