Mikaela Shiffrin stands on the brink of yet another milestone. The American superstar arrives in Quebec needing just one more trip to the top step to claim her 105th career World Cup win as Mont Tremblant stages a rare North American double women’s giant slalom this weekend.
Two races, two chances, one mountain. The Audi FIS Ski World Cup returns to the picturesque Laurentians with a blockbuster program:
Saturday 6 Dec – Women’s GS Run 1: 11:00 EST / 17:00 CET | Run 2: 14:00 EST / 20:00 CET
Sunday 7 Dec – Women’s GS Run 1: 10:00 EST / 16:00 CET | Run 2: 13:00 EST / 19:00 CET
Shiffrin, who already owns the all-time record with 104 victories, has been untouchable in giant slalom this season so far: a win in Sölden and a runner-up in Levi. The 30-year-old leads the overall standings by 90 points and sits second in the GS discipline rankings behind Federica Brignone. A single victory this weekend would make her the first skier – man or woman – to reach 105 World Cup wins.
“It’s a big number, but honestly I’m just excited for two days of racing on a hill I love,” Shiffrin said Friday after inspection. “Tremblant asks for rhythm and aggression at the same time. When you get it right, it’s one of the most fun courses on the tour.”
She won’t have it easy. Federica Brignone, the 2020 GS globe winner, arrives hungry after early-season cancellations robbed her of home races in Italy. Lara Gut-Behrami, fully fit again after offseason knee surgery, and New Zealand’s Alice Robinson – winner of the last GS held here in 2023 – are both proven Tremblant threats. Add in Switzerland’s rising Wendy Holdener and a motivated Petra Vlhová back in giant slalom, and the field is stacked.
Cold temperatures and a freshly prepared surface greeted athletes on Friday, with light snow forecast for Saturday morning before clearing skies on Sunday – classic Quebec conditions that reward precision and bravery.

Fifteen thousand fans are expected to line the Flying Mile trail each day, turning the finish area into a sea of flags and cowbells. For Shiffrin, every gate this weekend is another chance to etch her name a little deeper into skiing history.
The hunt for 105 starts Saturday at 11:00 EST. One thing is certain: Tremblant is ready to roar.
