Austria’s Julia Scheib delivered a masterclass in giant slalom skiing on Saturday, claiming her second FIS Alpine Ski World Cup win of the 2025/26 season with a dominant performance on the demanding Tremblant course.
The 27-year-old, who already tasted victory earlier this season, put together two flawless runs to finish in a combined time that left the rest of the field chasing shadows. Scheib attacked the icy, technical piste with precision and aggression, building a comfortable gap that proved unassailable in the decisive second run.
Sweden’s Sara Hector, the 2022 Olympic giant slalom champion, fought hard to keep the pressure on but had to settle for second place, 0.57 seconds behind the flying Austrian. New Zealand’s Alice Robinson rounded out the podium in third, 0.78 seconds off the winning pace, marking her first top-three finish of the new campaign.
Scheib’s victory continues a remarkable rise for the Carinthian skier, who only claimed her maiden World Cup win last season but has now doubled her career tally in quick succession. Her confidence and consistency on the giant slalom discipline have turned heads throughout the tour, and today’s result strengthens Austria’s grip on the discipline.
Speaking on the podium, an elated Scheib said: “The course was tough, really icy and demanding, but I felt great on my skis from the first training run. To win here in Tremblant in front of this amazing crowd is unbelievable – I’m so happy!”
The result sees Scheib climb toward the top of the giant slalom standings and adds valuable points to Austria’s overall nation quota.
