American alpine skiing superstar Mikaela Shiffrin delivered yet another commanding performance under the floodlights at the Émile-Allais stadium, claiming her 105th career World Cup victory and maintaining a perfect record in slalom this season.
Shiffrin posted a combined time of 1:42.50 over two runs, finishing a commanding 1.55 seconds ahead of Switzerland’s Camille Rast. Germany’s Emma Aicher rounded out the podium in third, 1.71 seconds back, marking her second podium in just days after a downhill victory in St. Moritz.
The 30-year-old Shiffrin, who has now won all four slaloms this 2025-26 season (Levi, Gurgl, Copper Mountain, and Courchevel), extended her streak to five consecutive slalom victories dating back to last season. This win also marked her 68th in the discipline, further solidifying her status as the most successful slalom skier in history.
The challenging, icy course proved unforgiving for many top contenders. Several high-profile skiers, including Albania’s Lara Colturi (who had podiumed in the previous three slaloms), Croatia’s Zrinka Ljutić, and Austria’s Katharina Liensberger, failed to finish the first run. Germany’s Lena Dürr, who was third after the opening run, straddled a gate in the second.
Reflecting on her performance, Shiffrin said, “Sometimes you’ve got to take it and roll with it. I was pushing like hell… Just fight!” She also noted the significance of Courchevel, a venue that has seen both highs and lows in her career, adding, “Courchevel has been there my entire career for highs and lows so I appreciate this so much.”
Rast secured her fifth career slalom podium with a strong recovery in the second run, while the versatile Aicher continued her breakout season by excelling in technical events shortly after her speed triumph.
With this victory, Shiffrin extends her lead in the overall World Cup standings as the circuit heads toward the holiday break. The women’s tour resumes in late December with another slalom in Semmering, Austria.
