The women’s FIS Alpine Ski World Cup closes out the 2025 calendar year with an electrifying night slalom today, December 28, on the famed Zauberberg course. The first run begins at 14:15 CET, with the floodlit second run set for 17:45 CET – the last bib draw and final race before the turn into 2026.
Dominating the spotlight is American icon Mikaela Shiffrin, the record-holder with 105 World Cup victories and an unparalleled seven wins at Semmering across her career. Coming off a flawless 4-0 slalom record this season, including a commanding triumph in Courcheval, Shiffrin is poised to extend her winning streak to six as the Olympic season ramps up toward Milan-Cortina 2026.
Fresh from yesterday’s giant slalom – where Austria’s Julia Scheib thrilled home fans with her third victory of the campaign, edging Switzerland’s Camille Rast and Sweden’s Sara Hector while Shiffrin posted a strong sixth-place finish to continue rebuilding her GS rhythm – the technical focus now shifts to slalom precision under the lights.
Strong challengers include Rast, Croatia’s Zrinka Ljutić, and Germany’s Lena Dürr, all hungry to disrupt Shiffrin’s mastery on this rhythmic, demanding pitch.
