At 41, Lindsey Vonn Just Proved Age Is NOTHING: ‘Exactly What I Needed’ Family Christmas Reset Before Olympic Glory

At 41, Lindsey Vonn continues to defy the odds in one of the most remarkable comebacks in sports history. Amid a blazing start to the 2025/26 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup season, the American legend took a well-deserved holiday break, spending Christmas surrounded by loved ones—and declaring it “exactly what I needed.”

Vonn shared glimpses of her festive celebrations on Instagram, including joyful moments with her sister Karin Kildow and friends, cozy scenes with her dogs, and glamorous outings under twinkling lights.

“And what a Christmas we had… Rest, recharge, train, see friends and family… exactly what I needed. 🙏🏻❤️🎄 I hope everyone had an amazing holiday as well,” Vonn captioned her post.

The downtime comes at a pivotal moment. Just days earlier, Vonn officially qualified for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics—her fifth Games—after dominating the early speed events. She kicked off the season with a historic downhill victory in St. Moritz on December 12, becoming the oldest skier ever to win a World Cup race. She followed with multiple podiums, including thirds in Val d’Isère, solidifying her spot on Team USA.

Vonn’s journey back to the top began with a partial knee replacement in 2024, addressing injuries that forced her 2019 retirement. After returning to competition last season and earning a podium at the World Cup Finals, she’s now thriving in speed disciplines ahead of Cortina— a venue where she’s won 12 times and holds deep personal ties.

In a CBS interview earlier this year, Vonn highlighted the broader impact of her pursuit: “A lot of women my age are really, really happy that I’m doing what I’m doing… We can still pursue our dreams regardless of our age.”

As the Olympics approach, Vonn’s blend of rest, family time, and relentless drive has her poised for one final shot at glory.
