American skiing legend Mikaela Shiffrin proved once again why she’s the undisputed Queen of Slalom, delivering a jaw-dropping second-run charge to win the FIS World Cup night slalom in Semmering – her fifth victory in five slalom races this 2025-26 season!
Trailing by 0.54 seconds after a challenging first run on a brutally rutted course, the 30-year-old GOAT unleashed the fastest second run of the night (by 0.63 seconds) to snatch victory by a razor-thin 0.09 seconds over Switzerland’s Camille Rast. Albania’s rising star Lara Colturi rounded out the podium in third.
This epic comeback marks Shiffrin’s 106th career World Cup win and extends her slalom winning streak to six races dating back to last season – keeping her undefeated in the discipline this Olympic year.
Despite the triumph, Shiffrin didn’t hold back on the treacherous conditions, calling the deteriorating course “borderline unsafe” and highlighting a near-50% DNF rate – the highest in decades. “It was a really big fight,” Shiffrin said post-race. “Tough conditions… but I did my best possible run.
