Odermatt and Shiffrin Deliver Seasons of Absolute Mastery in Alpine Skiing World Cup
In a winter defined by relentless consistency, technical brilliance, and unbreakable dominance, two legends etched their names deeper into alpine skiing history this season.
Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt has done it again — securing his fifth consecutive Overall Crystal Globe in the 2025-26 FIS Alpine World Cup. The 28-year-old Swiss star mathematically clinched the biggest prize in the sport with races to spare, showcasing the kind of control and aura that has defined his reign. Whether in giant slalom, super-G, or downhill, Odermatt was a warrior on every turn, building insurmountable leads through precision, power, and mental fortitude.4a8c60
This fifth straight overall title places him among the all-time greats, joining the likes of Marcel Hirscher and others in elite company. Odermatt also added more discipline globes to his collection, including another super-G crown, cementing a season of total command from start to finish.
On the women’s side, American superstar Mikaela Shiffrin once again wrote history. In the final race of the season in Hafjell, Norway, Shiffrin clinched her sixth Overall World Cup title, tying the all-time record held by Austrian legend Annemarie Moser-Pröll. She sealed it with a composed 11th-place finish in giant slalom — enough to hold off a strong challenge from Germany’s rising star Emma Aicher by 87 points in what was her tightest overall battle yet.703839
Shiffrin’s season was marked by relentless excellence, including a staggering nine slalom wins out of ten possible, highlighting her unmatched prowess in the discipline. At 31, she continues to defy expectations, blending experience with explosive speed and tactical brilliance that has made her the most decorated skier of her generation — and arguably the greatest of all time with over 110 World Cup victories.
Two champions. Two masterclasses in dominance.
Odermatt’s iron grip on the men’s tour and Shiffrin’s historic resurgence on the women’s side provided the perfect bookend to a thrilling 2025-26 campaign. While the snow melts and preparations for the next season (and Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics) begin, one thing is clear: these snow warriors set the standard for what excellence looks like at the highest level.
From early-season consistency to late-season heroics, their performances weren’t just wins — they were statements. The Crystal Globes shine brighter because of them.
