Mikaela Shiffrin and Oakley Launch $1 Million “Share Winter” Initiative to Expand Youth Access to Skiing and Snowboarding

Fresh off another dominant season and her latest Olympic success, alpine skiing icon Mikaela Shiffrin is turning her spotlight toward the next generation. The winningest alpine skier in history has partnered with longtime sponsor Oakley and the Share Winter Foundation to launch a major new $1 million fundraising initiative aimed at breaking down barriers and getting more young people on snow.

Announced Monday as an expansion of Shiffrin’s ongoing MIK100 (and now MIKGives) efforts, the campaign carries an ambitious $1 million goal to fund learn-to-ski and snowboard programs across the United States. The initiative seeks to provide access for thousands of youth who might otherwise never experience winter sports, with each supported child typically requiring around $500 per season for equipment, lessons, transportation, and lift tickets.

At the heart of the launch is the exclusive “GOAT Gives Back” on-snow event at Copper Mountain, where Shiffrin will personally ski and ride alongside 40 young participants from Share Winter grantee elevateHer. Oakley is powering the experience by outfitting every participant with high-performance goggles and contributing to the on-mountain activities.

“This is about more than just raising money — it’s about opening doors,” Shiffrin said in the announcement. “Skiing gave me so much growing up, and I want as many kids as possible to have that same opportunity, regardless of their background.”

The partnership builds on Shiffrin’s earlier MIK100 collaboration with Share Winter, which successfully raised $100,000 following her historic 100th World Cup victory. That initial effort helped support learn-to-ski programs for under-resourced youth. The new $1 million target represents a significant scale-up, reflecting Shiffrin’s commitment to growing the sport at its grassroots level.

Share Winter Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to making snow sports accessible, currently supports more than 45,000 youth annually through grants to community-based programs nationwide. By partnering with elite athletes and brands like Oakley, the organization aims to expand its reach and impact even further.

Oakley, a longtime supporter of Shiffrin and a leader in performance eyewear, will also help amplify the campaign through marketing and on-site activation. The collaboration underscores a shared mission: ensuring winter sports remain vibrant and inclusive for future generations.

Shiffrin’s off-snow legacy continues to grow alongside her on-hill achievements. With a record 109 World Cup wins, multiple Olympic medals (including her latest gold in slalom at the 2026 Milano Cortina Games), and six overall Crystal Globes, she has already cemented her status as the greatest alpine skier of all time. Now, through initiatives like this, she is actively working to “reset the sport” by broadening participation.

Donations to the $1 million Share Winter campaign are being accepted now, with funds directed toward scholarships, equipment, and program support for youth across the country.

For the next generation of skiers and riders, this initiative could be the first step onto the mountain — and for Mikaela Shiffrin, it’s another way to give back to the sport that shaped her life.
