Skiing superstar Mikaela Shiffrin has been named to the prestigious TIME100 list as an Icon in Sports — and the achievement has left her feeling a mix of gratitude and disbelief.
In a heartfelt message, the most decorated alpine skier in history admitted that even after years of dominance, the recognition hits differently.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to stand on top of the podium 121 times on the world stage, and I can honestly say it has never felt routine,” Shiffrin shared. While outsiders might view her repeated success as “boring,” the 29-year-old says the fire inside still burns bright.
She continues to care deeply, gets nervous before races, and remains obsessed with chasing the perfect turn.
Beyond the medals, Shiffrin emphasized how she’s using her platform for good — pursuing excellence on the slopes while championing causes close to her heart, including the Share Winter Foundation, which helps provide access to snow sports for underprivileged kids.
“None of it happens alone,” she added, expressing deep thanks to her family, coaches, teammates, sponsors, friends, and fans who have stood by her through every triumph and challenge.
