I’ll look up the latest on Vonn’s tennis week and workouts so the article can stay accurate and current.Lindsey Vonn: “A Lot of Tennis… and I Had So Much Fun”
Olympic alpine skiing champion Lindsey Vonn spent the past week trading ski boots for tennis shoes — and she made no secret of how much she enjoyed it.
“It’s been a lot of tennis the past week and workouts…and I had so much fun,” Vonn said, summing up a stretch that mixed high-level tennis, gym sessions, and the kind of competitive joy she has been rebuilding since her devastating crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The week centered on the International Tennis Hall of Fame Celebrity Pro Classic in Newport, Rhode Island, held during the weekend that celebrated Roger Federer’s induction. Vonn did not stay on the sidelines. She stepped onto the grass courts, hitting with and against a roster of tennis greats that included Jimmy Connors, Kim Clijsters, Stan Smith, Tommy Haas, Sam Querrey, Arantxa Sánchez Vicario and Garbiñe Muguruza.
Fans watching the clips immediately worried about her surgically repaired leg. Vonn answered them directly. Her doctor’s instruction, she posted, was simple: as long as the leg did not hurt, she could play. She stayed on court for more than three hours. “I mean… when you have Jimmy Connors, Kim Clijsters, Stan Smith, Tommy Haas, Sam Querrey and a ton of other legends giving you tips and playing with them… I couldn’t stop,” she wrote.
The tennis was not an isolated outing. Vonn also appeared at the U.S. Open in New York, attending matches, the opening-night gala and Federer’s Hall of Fame events. She has long described tennis as legitimate cross-training once her game reached a high enough level, and this week showed how far that side of her athleticism has come.
The workouts continued in parallel. Vonn has spent months documenting her return to the gym after multiple surgeries, a period that included a wheelchair, crutches, and the real possibility of losing her left leg. Recent sessions have featured unassisted squats, Bulgarian split squats, pull-ups and barbell work — movements that once seemed distant. She has repeatedly said training keeps her grounded even when she is traveling.
Vonn has been open that another ACL procedure still lies ahead. She has described the current window as a chance to get as strong as possible before that next surgery and the long rehabilitation that will follow. “For now, I feel great, and I’m very thankful for that,” she told TNT Sports.
The week of tennis and training does not answer the larger question of whether she will race again. Vonn has said she does not want the Olympic downhill in Cortina to be her last run. For the moment she is measuring progress in hours on court, sessions in the gym, and the simple fact that she is moving — and enjoying it.
“I had so much fun,” she said. After the year she has had, that sentence carries more weight than most.
