Olympic skiing legend Lindsey Vonn and Harry Potter star Emma Watson both turned heads at the star-studded opening night of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The $1 billion museum, founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, hosted one of the most packed celebrity nights of the year ahead of its public opening on Tuesday. Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian, Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg and a long list of A-listers filled the futuristic building in Exposition Park.
Vonn, still in the midst of her remarkable recovery after a serious crash, arrived looking polished and confident. Watson, who has kept a lower public profile lately, chose a sleek black velvet minidress with delicate floral details and later kicked off her heels to dance barefoot when the Black Eyed Peas took the stage.
The two women were not formally paired on the carpet, but they shared the same glittering room filled with directors, athletes, musicians and political figures. Watson was photographed with Cynthia Erivo; Vonn appeared in several red-carpet galleries that also featured Camila Cabello, Keke Palmer and Doja Cat.
The evening mixed high culture with Hollywood spectacle: a 27-piece orchestra outside, a gospel performance by Voices of Fire joined by Jon Batiste, a rooftop drone show narrated by Oprah and Samuel L. Jackson that projected museum artworks across the night sky, and a late-night set by the Black Eyed Peas that kept guests dancing until midnight.
For Vonn, nights like this have become another chapter in a comeback that already includes the Met Gala and ESPYs. For Watson, it was a rare high-profile appearance that reminded everyone why she still commands attention.
The museum itself — dedicated to visual storytelling from cave paintings to Star Wars — opens to the public on September 22. Tickets are already selling fast.
Two very different careers, one unforgettable Los Angeles night. Fans are still talking about how both women looked.
