At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this evening, Liverpool had a tough day as they lost with just nine players in the final minute following six league games with five victories and one tie.
Son Heung-min’s goal in the 36th minute showed that Tottenham Hotspur was more committed to the victory than they had been in the first half of the game.

Richarlison’s run down the left was picked out by Maddison, who selflessly squared it into the middle for Son. The captain of Spurs was left to touch the ball into the open goal as Alisson was lured to the ball.

Prior to that, Curtis Jones was dismissed from Liverpool after a late tackle on Bissouma. After the VAR intervened, the referee changed the yellow card to a red one.

Even though they were down a player, Liverpool was still able to recover before the first half was over. Cody Gakpo scored Liverpool’s equalizer in the final four seconds of the first half.

Diogo Jota’s dismissal in the 69th minute made the game more challenging for Liverpool as the struggle for supremacy continued in the second half. Just over a minute after receiving his first caution, Jota received a second one, a third, and finally a red for entirely missing the ball but clipping a Spurs player.

At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this evening, Liverpool had a tough day as they lost with just nine players in the final minute following six league games with five victories and one tie.
Romero noticed Porro’s unmarked run down the right when Liverpool thought they may escape with a draw, and the Spaniard fizzed a low cross in early when he saw Robertson closing him down. Matip intentionally turned the ball into his own net because he anticipated Skipp’s run from behind and prepared a leg to block it.

Tottenham Hotspur retained their unbeaten streak while Liverpool suffered their first loss of the season thanks to an own goal by Matip.

With 17 points in 7 games following the victory, Tottenham Hotspur has moved up to second place, one point behind Manchester City in first. Liverpool currently holds the fourth position with 16 points after 7 games.
