Latest Liverpool news as footage emerges of Luis Diaz’s goal against Chelsea in the Premier League and Darwin Nunez’s true impact for the Reds becomes even clearer
Footage has emerged around one of Liverpool’s goals in the recent win over Chelsea, and it’s left more than a few viewers impressed with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Reds recorded a 4-1 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday night to regain their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. Diogo Jota, Conor Bradley, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz got the goals for Liverpool in an impressive victory at Anfield.
Darwin Nunez did not find the back of the net, despite hitting the woodwork for a Premier League record four times during the match. The Uruguayan did provide the assist for Diaz’s goal, and Liverpool’s fourth, in the latter stages of the contest.
It is Diaz’s goal that has been the subject of footage that has been circulating across social media. The video showed all 11 Liverpool players – including Alisson Becker – making at least one pass during the possession phase leading up to the goal.
Trent Alexander-Arnold begins the passage of play by making a pass to Harvey Elliott, who then makes a first-time ball to Ibrahima Konate. The Reds then pass the ball across the backline, with Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Alisson all having possession.
Konate then played a cross-field pass to Robertson on the left wing, which then saw Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo maintain possession. A brief exchange of passes saw the ball find Alexis Mac Allister, who played a through ball to Nunez in the penalty area before his pass across goal found Diaz for a tap-in.
A total of 16 passes that began with Alexander-Arnold and finished with Nunez’s assist to Diaz rounded off the scoring at Anfield. It was the 11th assist of the season for Nunez in all competitions, more than any other player in the Reds squad.
Bradley got two assists in the game for Jota and Szoboszlai’s finishes, as well as his own goal. Diaz played the pass to Bradley that allowed the Liverpool right-back to run through and place his strike past Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.
