- LINDSEY VONN: The Speed Queen of Alpine Skiing

Lindsey Vonn, one of the greatest skiers of all time, is set to end her five-year retirement and return to the sport. After 18 years on the World Cup circuit, three Winter Olympic medals, eight world championship medals and 82 World Cup race wins, Vonn decided to step away from skiing in 2019, saying her body was “broken beyond repair.” However, after undergoing successful knee surgery earlier this year, the 40-year-old is about to rejoin the US Ski Team in Colorado. “Getting back to skiing without pain has been an incredible journey,” Vonn said in a US Ski & Snowboard…
American ski star Mikaela Shiffrin dominated the first women’s World Cup slalom of the season Saturday for her record-extending 98th career win. Shiffrin built on a big first-run lead with an aggressive yet controlled second run down the Levi Black course to beat 2021 slalom world champion Katharina Liensberger of Austria by 0.79 seconds. Lena Duerr of Germany dropped from second to third, 0.83 behind Shiffrin, and was the last skier to finish less than a second off the lead. “Amazing way to start the slalom season, I’m super happy,” Shiffrin said. The two-time Olympic champion also led the season-opening…
In the possible final stage of the Alpine Securities saga (as we blogged about here, here and here), Judge Clark Waddopous of the United States District Court for the District of Utah issued an opinion granting the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (“SEC”) motion to dismiss the amended complaint filed by plaintiff brokerage firm Scottsdale Capital Advisors (“SCA”). SCA’s suit, distilled greatly, challenged the SEC’s authority to enforce, administer and interpret the Suspicious Activity Report (“SAR”) regulations issued under the Bank Secrecy Act (“BSA”) and incorporated into the securities laws. What makes this case interesting is that the SEC did not…
Mike Tyson does not think his unanimous defeat against Jake Paul in Texas on Friday will be his last appearance in a boxing ring. The eight-round fight, which took place at the AT&T Stadium in Texas and was streamed on Netflix, was scored 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73 in favour of the YouTuber-turned-boxer. It was Tyson’s first fight in 19 years but, speaking to Netflix after the bout, the 58-year-old left the window open for future fights. Asked if it was the last time he would be seen in a ring, Tyson said: “I don’t know. It depends on the situation.…
Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are facing accusations that the outcome of their fight was ‘fixed’ from a fighter who worked on the undercard of the event. YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul coasted to victory against a 58-year-old Tyson but appeared to take his foot off the gas rather than target a knockout against Iron Mike. An inactive fight saw the scorecards read 80-72, 79-73, 79-73 in Paul’s favour, with the fighter who is 31 years Tyson’s junior even taking time to bow to his opponent in the final moments. Following the fight, Sara Bailey, the women’s WBA world light flyweight champion who…
A58-year-old Mike Tyson failed to turn back the clock as Father Time remains undefeated. Tyson lost a unanimous decision to the 27-year-old social media star and professional boxer Jake Paul on November 15 at the well-attended Netflix pay-per-view event at AT&T Stadium in Texas. Despite the agonizing loss, Tyson refused to hang up his gloves for good as he openly challenged Jake Paul’s older brother, Logan Paul, to be his next opponent during the post-fight interview with MMA sports journalist Ariel Helwani. Logan Paul, who is best known for winning the WWE United States Championship in 2023, did not hold…
Jay Fabian sentenced to 90 days in jail; Jail time suspended as long as he clears 5 years probation Jay Fabian is the former NASCAR Cup Series director. Back in 2021, warrants were issued for his arrest. He was accused of animal cruelty. 3 dogs were at the root of the charges. One of the animals was deprived “of all necessary sustenance in which to live.” A second dog suffered extreme dehydration and sustenance to live. The third was deprived of necessary sustenance. While the case was ongoing, Fabian stepped back from his NASCAR role. NASCAR issued in a 2021…
The Cleveland Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. hyperextended his left knee on the first snap of their Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals but toughened it up and played every snap. Because of the knee injury, Wills did not play in their Week 8 upset victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Since then, Dawand Jones, their right tackle, who started their last two games at left tackle, will continue serving as Jameis Winston’s blindside protector, and Wills will remain on the bench in the swing tackle role. Wills had a chance to speak with reports on Monday and became…
The Cleveland Browns may not make the playoffs this season, but that doesn’t mean their season is over. If anything, it seems like almost everybody involved with the coaching staff could be coaching for their jobs from now on. Despite Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry still being under contract and having recently gotten a contract extension, it now seems like the team could part ways with them. There have been multiple rumblings about whether they will look to hire Mike Vrabel, who’s currently serving as an advisor, to replace Stefanski. When asked about that, Browns insider Toni Grossi claimed that…
Shavkat Rakhmonov is looking for an opponent for UFC 310 in December. The undefeated welterweight phenom, of course, was set to face champ Belal Muhammad for the 170lbs gold. But the latter was forced to pull out due to a bone infection. Which promoted ‘Nomad’ to call for an interim title shot against whoever is game and is picked by the UFC. In recent days, former champion Kamaru Usman and former interim champ Colby Covington have made some noise about wanting to fight Rakhmonov. However, in a recent tweet, the Kazakh phenom has claimed it is just this- noise and…
