Jurgen Klopp gives bleak Liverpool injury update and explains why he had to sub Darwin Nunez
Striker Darwin Nunez was one of three Liverpool players withdrawn before the start of the second half against Brentford, giving manager Jurgen Klopp a bit of a headache Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said Darwin Nunez “felt something” as the Uruguayan only lasted until half-time at Brentford. Nunez scored Liverpool’s first goal in their victory at the Gtech Community Stadium, latching on to a Diogo Jota header and racing through before chipping Mark Flekken. He didn’t have the opportunity to add to the strike in the second half, with Cody Gakpo taking his place upon the restart. The former Benfica man…
The toughest, meanest, nastiest team in the NBA is adding more depth. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported Friday that veteran guard Delon Wright is set to sign with the Miami Heat. The news comes amid Wright (making $8.2 million this season) agreeing to a contract buyout with the Washington Wizards. Wright, 31, was a first-round draft pick back in 2015 (No. 20 overall). He has carved out a journeyman career for himself, playing for Toronto, Memphis, Dallas, Detroit, Sacramento, Atlanta, and Washington. Wright averaged 4.1 points and 2.5 assists in under 14 minutes a game this year for the Wizards.…
The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to bring back all five of their starting offensive linemen from the 2023 season. But that doesn’t mean the Steelers won’t be able to upgrade the unit in NFL free agency. Bleacher Report’s Joe Tansey argued that one target Pittsburgh should have on its free agency wish list is offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor. “The offensive line free-agent market is not great, but Eluemunor stands out because of his pass-blocking skills and versatility across the offensive line,” wrote Tansey. Signing Eluemunor wouldn’t be a big splash like drafting an offensive tackle in the first round would…
The Pittsburgh Steelers could go any number of directions with their first-round pick. Before free agency, they had enough of a need for about seven different positions to where you can at least argue that the position will be the pick. However, tackle, cornerback, and center seem to rise above the rest in terms of likelihood. But a linebacker is needed given Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander’s injuries. And Chad Reuter of NFL Network has the Steelers addressing linebacker in the first round in his latest mock draft, but it’s not the player you would expect. No, it’s Kentucky’s Trevin…
On Sunday evening, the 2024 NBA All-Star Game will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James will become the first player to ever play in 20 All-Star Games. In addition, James needs just three defensive rebounds to pass Hall of Famer Tim Duncan (98) for the most in All-Star Game history. James has All-Star Game career averages of 22.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists per contest, so he should be able to move ahead of Duncan during Sunday’s game. The 39-year-old is also the all-time leader in field goals (178) and points (426). Despite his…
Klay Thompson will be one of the most notable free agents available this summer. The five-time NBA All-Star has spent his entire 11-year career with the Golden State Warriors but is on an expiring $43.2 million deal. On Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium (appearing on the Pat McAfee Show) reported that the Los Angeles Lakers could be among several teams that will have an interest in Thompson over the offseason. Charania: “From everything, I expect him to test the marketplace. I would expect both Florida teams, I would expect both LA teams, I would expect potentially a…
It has been over a week since your Los Angeles Lakers, Crypto.com Arena, and Vanessa Bryant unveiled the Kobe Bryant statue on Star Plaza. And there’s no question it is already the number one visited attraction at the arena. Everybody loves the statue, including Los Angeles Lakers legend and NBA icon the great Magic Johnson. Johnson spoke to Mark Medina, who covers the NBA. The five-time Laker champion had a rave review for the iconic image, per Mark Medina of The Sporting Tribune. That’s some mighty praise from the legend. There are some great statues out there, including his own,…
LeBron James and the Lakers have picked up the pace a bit in recent weeks, cruising into the NBA trade deadline comfortably above the .500 mark as the season reaches its unofficial halfway point. James has continued playing at an All-Star level so far this year, but that hasn’t stopped other teams from checking in on his availability, as it was recently reported by Adrian Wojnarowski and Romana Shelburne of ESPN that the Golden State Warriors–James’ longtime rivals with the Cleveland Cavaliers–had inquired with the Lakers about the superstar’s trade availability, and were obviously turned down. Still, the report opened…
“When will LeBron James win another Championship?” is a question that has been discussed for a while. The last elusive win came in 2020 but since then, the mega powerhouse hasn’t reached the finals of the league. And with the player on the road to becoming a free agent in July, it has opened a plethora of questions on when will the “King” lift his next league title. To this, Kendrick Perkins may have the answers. He said the following while speaking to ESPN, on LeBron James’ chances of winning another title: Staying in L.A. is [LeBron’s] best chance at…
The New York Jets are signing former Steelers offensive tackle Obinna Eze to a reserve/future contract, the team announced. He spent two months of the season on their practice squad. Pittsburgh signed Eze to help with tackle depth after the injury to Dan Moore Jr. before the bye week, but was released once the team experienced injuries at inside linebacker. Eze, 25, is in his second professional season. The 6-foot-8, 325-pound native of Lagos, Nigeria, joined the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent coming out of TCU in 2022. He played basketball coming out of Nigeria, which helped his…
