Another candidate has been identified for the Patriots’ vacant offensive coordinator job.
CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reports that Thomas Brown recently interviewed for the role. Brown, 37, will become the Panthers’ offensive coordinator in 2023. He called plays for several weeks while Frank Reich was the director, then was named full-time after Reich was fired.
Before going to Carolina, Brown spent 2020-2022 with the Rams. He first served as the team’s linebackers coach before moving to tight ends early in his senior year with the club. Brown also interviewed with the Steelers for their vacant offensive coordinator position and met with the Titans for their head coaching position.
Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is a contender for the Chiefs’ head coaching job. But Washington is still exploring other candidates, including a division rival. The Chiefs are expected to have a one-on-one interview with Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn early next week, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.
Quinn is currently meeting with the Seattle Seahawks regarding the head coaching vacancy. It’s a job closely related to Quinn’s, given his history with the franchise. Quinn, 53, has been Dallas’ defensive coordinator for the past three seasons. In 2023, the Cowboys ranked fifth in yards and points allowed. As head coach of the Falcons from 2015 to 2020, Quinn compiled a 43–42 record with a 3–2 record in the postseason.
Luke Getsy is expected to start for the Raiders on Friday. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reports that Gaetsy will interview with the Raiders about an offensive coordinator job. Gaesi was in the same position with the Bears the past two years, but was fired after the regular season.
Quarterback Justin Fields showed some improvement during his time with the Chicago Gatsies, but it wasn’t enough for the coach to keep his job or stick around as a signal caller in 2024. If Gaetsi gets the job in Las Vegas, it will be with Aidan O’Connell or whatever new quarterback the Raiders bring in this offseason.
Former Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury, Steelers quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan, former Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt and Rams coach Jack Robinson have added their names to the offensive coordinator position on Antonio Pierce’s staff.
