Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso has emerged as a favorite for the role at Liverpool. Jürgen Klopp has recently announced he will be parting ways with the club at the end of the season, with the former Reds midfielder now tipped for the role.
According to journalist TV Dello Sport journalist Gianluigi Longari, Alonso is ‘first on the list’ for potential Klopp successors. Speaking on his personal X account, he wrote: “Liverpool evaluations underway for the bench. Many candidates in the running, the first on the LFC list is Xabi Alonso.”
Rúben Amorim (Sporting CP)
Sporting Club de Portugal boss Rúben Amorim is one of many names to been linked with potentially succeeding Klopp at Liverpool. The former midfielder has impressed in Portugal and has been regularly linked with a move to England when vacant roles appear.
According to journalist Gianluigi Longari once again, Liverpool has drawn up a series of names that they will explore as potential successors to Klopp, with Amorim standing out amongst other candidates. “Among the alternatives considered by the Reds, the name of Ruben Amorim currently managing Sporting stands out,” he wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
