It’s to Liverpool’s credit that even though Mohamed Salah has missed over a month of football now, it wasn’t until last weekend that it really felt like his presence was missed in the team. Liverpool cruised through January without any problems.
Jurgen Klopp’s side won every game in the league, qualified to the League Cup final, and advanced in the FA Cup as well. On the back of those results, you’d say Liverpool didn’t miss Salah at all, who was at the African Cup of Nations and then picked-up an injury.
However, below the surface there is no denying that Salah was still sorely missed. He is such a unique player. And one of the best in the world. With him in the side, Liverpool might have won games by an even bigger margin. One thing is for certain, he could have been very useful in Liverpool’s defeat at the weekend.
Against Arsenal, Liverpool lacked a creative edge. Which is exactly what Salah provides, and which is one of the things he is best at this season. The statistics prove that as well.
According to WhoScored statistics, Mohamed Salah has created the most big chances in Europe’s top five leagues. That’s despite not playing a game since the 1st of January.
In total Salah has created 17 big chances in the Premier League – which is more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.
The fact that Salah ranks top in the metric is truly incredible. The Egyptian star is simply brilliant. He just keeps getting better and better for Liverpool. And we are so excited to have him back in the team soon.
It’s obvious Salah still has a lot to offer to this Liverpool team. He doesn’t just score goals but creates chances as well. With him in the side, Jurgen Klopp’s team will be even more dangerous.
There is no doubt, Salah could be the key to Liverpool lifting more trophies this season. Which is why Liverpool will be careful not to rush him back too early.
