The Los Angeles Lakers have somewhat improved their performance over the last few weeks of the season.
However, it is more than obvious that most NBA experts believe that the Lakers need to make a blockbuster acquisition to truly help them in making a comeback this season.
While the Lakers cannot make a trade this season due to the conclusion of the NBA Trade Deadline, they can still target a star player to acquire in the offseason.
Many names have emerged as potential targets for the Purple and Gold, but NBA analyst Jovan Buha believes that the Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young is the perfect player for the team via The Volume on Twitter.
“They’ve wanted a superstar-level point guard who can run the offense, take some of the burden off LeBron,” Buha said.
Buha supported his claim about why the Lakers should trade for Trae Young by mentioning that he can be an elite playmaker for the team.
As a result, it could take some burden off the shoulders of LeBron James and he can then focus on contributing to the Lakers in a different role.
As of now, the Lakers do have D’Angelo Russell as their primary point guard, but the former NBA All-Star is known for his scoring prowess rather than being a floor general for the team.
On the other hand, the Lakers could use Russell’s scoring ability to their benefit by allowing him to be the secondary scorer behind Anthony Davis and make LeBron James a traditional point guard.
But considering LeBron James’ status in the NBA, it’s unlikely that he will accept a full-time role of being the primary facilitator of the team.
