A detailed assessment by a data analysis company has revealed that Ruben Amorim is the best option for Liverpool to replace Jurgen Klopp – not Xabi Alonso.
The Reds are on the hunt for a new manager. Klopp will leave the club at the end of this season, and a number of names have been linked with his job already. Alonso is almost everybody’s favourite choice, but stats show he’s nowhere near as good for Liverpool as some of their other targets.
If you go on the streets of Liverpool and ask most Reds fans who they want as their next manager, almost every one of them will say Xabi Alonso.
The Spaniard is doing a phenomenal job at Bayer Leverkusen, who are currently 11 points clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga table.
That is an extraordinary achievement, and many feel he could lead Liverpool to glory in their new era after Jurgen Klopp‘s departure.
However, an analysis done by analysts at Carteret Analytics – a company which provides detailed manager assessments to clubs in the Premier League and other divisions – shows that Alonso is far from being the right man for the job.
The assessment, as reported by BBC, is made by calculating eight metrics. They are Objective achievement, Strategic intelligence, Tactical command, Attacking coefficient, Success-adjusted attacking coefficient, Shot conversion, Overall possession home/away and Overall rating.
