The NFL Combine is starting, which means the 2024 NFL Draft is much closer.
And since the New England Patriots are relying on a young team to help them get back on track, there is no better time than now to look at some of the prospects they can pick.
Below we’ll take a look at the best pick they should target in Round 3.
The Patriots should select Yale OT Kiran Amegadjie with the No. 68 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft
With Trent Brown expected to leave in free agency and Mike Onwenu’s future being unknown at this time, the Patriots are in need of some new tackles.
And Kiran Amegadjie is a solid candidate to join the Patriots for the 2024 season.
A to Z Sports’ Destin Adams released his rankings for the top 15 offensive tackles, putting Amegadjie in the No. 11 spot.
He is someone who has caught the attention of many, including the Athletic’s draft expert Dan Brugler. And Amegadjie said it best himself: “In my opinion, Iโm the most interesting prospect in the draft.โ
“Itโs a sizeable leap from the FCS to the NFL, so Amegadjie sought out additional resources in the offseason to help ease the impending transition, including workout sessions with 13-year NFL veteran lineman Willie Anderson. When he returned to campus, Amegadjie headed back into the film room with Wheeler.
“As he was still recovering from his in-season surgery, Amegadjie was unable to participate in this yearโs Senior Bowl, a missed opportunity, as it would have allowed him to show what he could do against stronger competition than he faced in the Ivy League. For what itโs worth, Amegadjie insisted he would have โput on a show.
“He still traveled to Mobile, Ala., last month and met with several NFL teams during Senior Bowl week,” Brugler wrote.
Amegadjie is coming off an injury, having suffered a partially torn left quad during his final season at Yale. He ultimately opted to have surgery, ending his season due to a four to six month recovery.
According to The Athletic, he did consider returning to Yale for another season due to the injury, but the pull to the NFL is strong.
Final Word
Amegadjie proved that he will not shy away from the hard work which is a very important trait in the NFL.
His perseverance perfectly emulates the Patriot Way, even in this new era in New England, and would make him the perfect fit to join a team that has a lot of obstacles to overcome this season.
