“Means more”: Trent Alexander-Arnold on why Liverpool success is more…

In the build-up to a pivotal Premier League showdown between Liverpool and Manchester City, the subject of the Blues’ current investigation has drawn more attention.

The Premier League have accused City of violating its rules on 115 occasions, casting a shadow over their achievements and operational integrity.

As the two giants prepare to face off at Anfield, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has not shied away from spotlighting the stark differences between the two clubs.

In an interview published in the print edition of Four Four Two, Alexander-Arnold offered a candid assessment of Manchester City, likening them to a “machine that’s built to win.”

He also said that Liverpool’s trophies are worth more due to the comparative money spent in achieving their silverware.

Since Klopp moved to Anfield, the Reds have won five major trophies while Man City, under multiple managers, have won 11 trophies in the same period.

“It’s difficult,” Alexander-Arnold began. “You’re up against a machine that’s built to win -that’s the simplest way to describe City and their organisation.

“Looking back on this era, although they’ve won more titles than us and have probably been more successful, our trophies will mean more to us and our fanbase because of the situations at both clubs, financially.

“How both clubs have built their teams and the manner in which we’ve done it, probably means more to our fans.”

However, Alexander-Arnold’s remarks go deeper, touching on a sentiment deeply rooted in the hearts of Liverpool fans and, perhaps, the wider football community.

He suggests that, despite City’s more numerous title victories, the achievements of Liverpool hold a more profound significance for their supporters.

This assertion speaks volumes about the ethos and values underpinning the two clubs’ methodologies in team-building and financial management.

Liverpool’s success, achieved through what many perceive as more traditional and principled means, resonates on a different level with its fanbase.

The Scouser’s comments perfectly lay the foundations for what will be a fiercely contested match at Anfield – one that Phil Foden has hinted is worrying for Man City given their track record there.

After scoring the equaliser against Manchester City in November, Liverpool would love to have Trent fit to play this weekend but he is one of the many expected absentees for the crunch clash.
