Mo Salah’s reaction to row with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after final whistle speaks volumes

Mohamed Salah headed straight down the tunnel following the conclusion of Liverpool ‘s match with West Ham on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds forward, 31, was dropped to the bench by Jurgen Klopp ahead of the game and was later seen having a furious row with the outgoing Liverpool manager before coming on as a second-half substitute.

Unfortunately for the duo, Liverpool dropped points once again at the London Stadium to leave their Premier League title hopes in tatters. West Ham struck late to snatch a 2-2 draw – and Salah was then seen walking off the pitch immediately following the final whistle.

Salah was then later asked for comment as he walked through the mixed zone by reporters but refused to speak, saying: “If I speak today there will be fire.”

Klopp and Salah had both been waiting on the touchline with Liverpool leading 2-1. But emotions between the pair ran high after Michail Antonio plundered a dramatic equaliser shortly before Salah was due to come on.

It was left to Darwin Nunez, another substitute, to diffuse the situation. He attempted to placate Salah, who would then go on to enter the field of the play for the final minutes of the match.

Klopp revealed the two spoke in the dressing room, but refused to disclose the nature of their conversation. When he was asked if he could disclose what was said, Klopp replied: “No. We spoke already in the dressing room, for me that’s done.”

Liverpool are now all but out of the title race after dropping points for the second time this week. They were soundly beaten 2-0 by Everton in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday night to leave them lagging behind Arsenal and Manchester City.

And Saturday’s result means Liverpool are a point behind City and two behind Arsenal having played more games than both of their title rivals.

Commenting on the clash on BBC Radio 5 Live, former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock said: “It is not good to see at all. You have two people who are equally important to the football club. The connection between the two has to be of respect and respect how they have helped each other’s careers.

“With Mo Salah being pushed out a little bit he doesn’t like that – it is a clash of egos
