Liverpool are planning on Mohamed Salah being part of their squad for next season as the Egyptian heads towards the final year of his contract.
Salah has been the subject of increased speculation he could leave in the summer, which was heightened following a touchline bust-up with Jurgen Klopp during the 2-2 Premier League draw at West Ham United on Saturday.
Klopp is leaving at the end of the campaign after almost nine years in charge and will be replaced by Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, whose appointment is close to being officially confirmed.
And Liverpool fully expect the new manager to be able to call upon Salah, with the 31-year-old having showing no indication he wants to leave and the Reds having no desire to cash in on the player this summer.
Salah will soon enter the final 12 months of his contract, with his situation to be addressed once incoming sporting director Richard Hughes is in position and Slot has been appointed.
Liverpool last summer rejected an offer worth £150million from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad for Salah with speculation of renewed interest from Saudi Arabia this coming transfer window sparked by the player’s public disagreement with Klopp at the weekend, even if the incident is not being treated with any great concern by the Reds.
Despite missing almost two months through injury earlier this year and struggling for form on his return – culminating in being benched for recent Premier League games at Fulham and West Ham – Salah is still Liverpool’s leading scorer with 24 goals and 13 assists in 41 outings this season.
