Manchester City have time on their side if they wish to sign Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig this summer, with his release clause not expiring for months.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say Manchester City are one of the sides to have been in touch with the Spaniard but are yet to make their interest concrete.
The newspaper explains that Olmo has ‘no time pressure’ because his clause runs until July.
The growing belief is that he will leave Leipzig this summer, yet there is absolutely no rush on that front at this moment in time and he may even wait to shine to at EURO 2024 in an attempt to get the attention of more big clubs.
There is a chance he could be one of the biggest stars of the tournament and that would make his €65m release clause a bargain.
Manchester City are one of the sides to have been in touch but are yet to make their interest concrete, perhaps instead waiting to see how he performs in Germany.
Barcelona are another of the sides who’ve been interested and even had a secret meeting with his entourage, but they have no way of paying that clause and need it reducing or the payment terms changing.
Leipzig won’t engage in that and would in fact prefer to keep the midfielder, who is the undisputed star and has been demonstrating as much in recent weeks.
They know there is interest and Olmo is likely to depart, though, the question is when as nobody, even clubs like Manchester City who can easily pay his clause, is rushing to sign him yet.
