There’s a player Liverpool should ‘mould’ into Mohamed Salah’s replacement according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Mohamed Salah is still going strong and probably enjoying one of his best ever individual seasons at the club.
However, sooner or later, Liverpool will have to move Salah on. The Egyptian is not getting any younger, and even though he has defied the ravages of time, eventually age will catch up to him.
Hopefully, that will only be in a couple of years. He will only turn 32-years-old later this summer, which means he could have a few more years left at elite level.
But before that time comes, Liverpool needs to be proactive and already be actively searching for his replacement. This may be Michael Edwards’ most difficult task since coming back to FSG, even more difficult than finding Klopp’s replacement.
Replacing someone of the ilk of Mohamed Salah seems impossible.
Gabby Agbonlahor on why Michael Olise could be Liverpool’s Salah replacement
There is one player, according to Gabby Agbonlahor, who might just have what it takes to replace Salah.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor named Olise as a potential heir to Salah’s throne at Anfield and described why he would be a good fit for any of the Premier League clubs currently on the hunt for an attacking player.
“Olise, 100%. If I have to choose out of Olise and Eze, I would choose Olise even though they are both outstanding players,” Agbonlahor said.
“Olise is 22, Eze is 25. Good ages. Eze especially at 25, it’s the age where you are like, it’s go time now. Let me go to a big, big club and go to the Champions League. He is getting into the England squad, he will want that to continue.
“Olise as well 22, wanting to get into the French national team, Mbappe leaving. I feel like he would be perfect for PSG. I rate him that highly. Look at the goals he is scoring. That good arrogance he has got about him. The release clause is £60 million.
“There will be so many clubs trying to get that deal. Spurs would love him, Arsenal would love him, Villa would be dying for him, Manchester United are crying out for him. Do you know what I mean? Give Antony. £60 million + for Antony. There you go. You can have him. Garbage.
“Liverpool would love him. Salah leaving Liverpool, could they mould him to more of a like winger plays further in the middle like Salah does. Top, top player.”
Michael Olise is the perfect fit for Liverpool
This season Olise has 15 goal contributions in the Premier League in just 12 starts and 18 matches in total.
He’s the kind of player who would absolutely flourish under Arne Slot’s system with his ability to hog the width of the pitch but also come into central areas and play as a number ten.
Agbonlahor is right, Olise would be the perfect fit to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.
