WHAT HAPPENED?
Amazon Prime Video put up a post carrying a quote by Carragher to Stick to Football, where he said, “I would put him (Jurgen Klopp) above Wenger.” The Liverpool boss ended his nine-year association with the Reds last weekend as he sat in the Anfield dugout for one last time during the club’s final game of the season against Wolves in the Premier League.
WHAT JACK WILSHERE SAID
The ex-Arsenal star, however, disagreed with Carragher’s statement as he hit back at the former Liverpool defender by writing a scathing response to Amazon Prime’s X post.
He wrote, “Klopp unbelievable how he transformed Liverpool but Arsene’s legacy in the premier league is second to none. Sorry Jamie but you are miles off it, please don’t be so biased and respect Arsene and what he done over a longer period, including leading the only team in the premier league to be invincible. Everyone appreciates what Pep has done and changed the way we see football in this country but don’t forget AW had a similar effect when he came in 96! You know that era better than me and witnessed it so let’s not forget that!”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Wenger is undoubtedly one of the greatest managers to have ever graced the Premier League alongside Sir Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola and Klopp. During his 22-year tenure with the North London side, he won every major trophy barring the Champions League and was also the only manager in the league’s history to win the title unbeaten.
WHAT NEXT FOR JURGEN KLOPP?
The German mentioned earlier that he will take a sabbatical from coaching for at least a year. However, Gary Lineker recently teased his fans by claiming that the former Borussia Dortmund manager could rejoin the Bundesliga outfit but in a different capacity.
