The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Tuesday that they have signed defensive back D’Shawn Jamison to their practice squad. To make room for Jamison, the team released cornerback Zyon Gilbert from the practice squad.
Jamison, an undrafted free agent out of Texas in 2023, has had stints with the San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers. He played 15 games for the Panthers in 2023, starting two, and recorded five tackles and one pass defended.
Jamison had an impressive college career at Texas, appearing in 60 games and starting 40. He accumulated 139 tackles, 23 passes defensed, and two fumble recoveries. He also excelled on special teams, ranking fourth all-time in UT history in kick returns and kick return yards.
The Steelers made additional roster moves on Tuesday, placing linebacker Tyler Matakevich on the reserve/injured list and releasing wide receiver Shaquan Davis. The team also re-signed cornerback James Pierre. These moves aim to bolster the Steelers’ roster and depth ahead of the upcoming season.
