Mohamed Salah has remained the most potent forward in the Liverpool squad this season despite the club struggling to tie him down to a new contract.

Salah was on the scoresheet in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Brighton last weekend and was brilliant in Europe on Tuesday night when he registered two assists in their 4-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen at Anfield.

The forward will again start when Liverpool host Aston Villa at home on Saturday night and is expected to play a pivotal role as the team look to keep their momentum going.

Liverpool players will fly out to different destinations next week during the international break to represent their national teams and Salah is an icon in the Egypt team.
The Merseyside giants would be keen to make sure that most of their top players do not pick up injuries when they are out on international duty.

However, it seems Liverpool are set to receive some good news when it comes to Salah’s availability.

The Reds receive a big update on Salah

Salah was scheduled to travel to Africa for Egypt’s African Cup of Nations qualifier matches later this month.

However, according to Shorouk News, Egypt have decided against calling him up for the next two games during the international break.

Egypt have already qualified for the tournament taking place in 2026 and that has resulted in Salah getting this unexpected break in the middle of the season.

They have decided to keep him away from playing on an artificial surface against Cape Verde and potentially risk an injury.

Salah’s exemption signals a fresh start to the relationship between Liverpool and the Egyptian FA.

The two sides clashed in the past regarding the involvement of the winger in some unfavourable national team games.

This would definitely boost Liverpool’s title hopes as their most important forward will now enjoy a two-week break during a busy period of the season.

The club will now hope to make progress in talks over a new deal with Salah and his representatives in the coming weeks.

His priority is to stay at Anfield but he wants the club to offer him a three-year deal before he agrees to sign on fresh terms.
