Vonn, 40, boasts an impressive résumé, with three Olympic medals, 20 World Cup titles, including four overall Crystal Globes, eight World Championship medals, 137 World Cup podiums, and 82 World Cup victories. Her return brings invaluable experience to the already successful U.S. women’s alpine program.

After retiring in 2019, Vonn underwent partial knee replacement surgery in April 2024. Her recovery has been remarkable, and she feels stronger than ever.

“I’m thrilled to be back on snow, pain-free,” Vonn said. “Rejoining the Stifel U.S. Ski Team is an incredible opportunity to share my knowledge and passion with the next generation.”

Vonn’s presence extends beyond her on-snow accomplishments. Her Lindsey Vonn Foundation supports underserved girls through scholarships and empowerment programs. As a mentor to current Stifel U.S. Ski Team athletes, Vonn hopes to continue inspiring women in sports.

“Lindsey’s dedication and passion are inspiring,” said U.S. Ski & Snowboard President and CEO Sophie Goldschmidt. “We’re delighted to welcome her back.”

Stifel U.S. Ski Team athlete Bella Wright added, “Lindsey has been a constant source of support throughout my career. Skiing alongside her will be an incredible experience.”

As Vonn embarks on this new chapter, fans eagerly anticipate her return to competition. With her experience and determination, she’s poised to make a significant impact on the World Cup circuit.

Lindsey Vonn has spent 18 seasons on the World Cup tour, competed in three Olympic Games, and is now 40 years old.

#LindseyVonnIsBack is trending on Twitter, with fans and fellow athletes praising Vonn’s resilience and inspiration. NBC Sports’ Dan Hicks notes, “Lindsey Vonn’s return is a game-changer for U.S. Skiing.”

The World Cup Opener took place in Sölden, Austria, in October 2024. The Stifel U.S. Ski Team Training Camp is scheduled for Colorado in November 2024, followed by the World Championships in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, in February 2025.
