Florida Gators in Pursuit of Top In-State Recruit Trent Henderson, Ranked No. 12 in the Country
The Florida Gators have been shortlisted as one of the top 10 teams in the running for the highly coveted 2026 edge recruit, Trent Henderson. The four-star prospect, who is currently ranked as the No. 12 recruit in the country, the No. 3 player at his position, and the top recruit out of Florida, according to 247 Sports, is being aggressively pursued by several top college football programs.
Henderson’s impressive skills and potential have attracted the attention of some of the biggest names in college football, including Georgia, Florida State, LSU, Alabama, Michigan, Texas, USC, Vanderbilt, and Auburn. The Gators, however, are determined to bring the talented edge recruit to Gainesville and have scheduled a visit with him on June 13.
While the Gators are not currently the frontrunners to land Henderson, they remain optimistic about their chances. According to On3, Auburn and Alabama are currently the top contenders for Henderson’s signature, with the Tigers being given the best odds to secure his commitment.
It’s worth noting that Henderson’s hometown of Pensacola is actually closer to Auburn and Tuscaloosa than Gainesville, which may give the Tigers and Crimson Tide an edge in terms of location and convenience. Additionally, Pensacola is in the same time zone (Central) as these SEC opponents, which could also be a factor in Henderson’s decision-making process.
Despite these challenges, the Gators are committed to making a strong impression on Henderson during his visit and demonstrating why they are the ideal fit for his talents and ambitions. With Henderson’s recruitment still very much up for grabs, the Gators will be looking to pull out all the stops to secure his commitment and bring one of the country’s top recruits to The Swamp.
