As Mikaela Shiffrin stands two days from her bid for a record-extending 102nd World Cup win in Levi, her journey from teenage prodigy to alpine skiing’s undisputed GOAT is best told through the races that shaped history. From her debut in 2011 to surpassing Ingemar Stenmark’s 86-win mark in 2023, here are 10 of her most iconic World Cup triumphs.

    1. Win #1 – December 20, 2012: Slalom, Åre, Sweden

A 17-year-old Shiffrin stunned the field on home snow for Sweden’s Frida Hansdotter, edging the local favorite by 0.29 seconds. Standing on the podium with Tina Maze and a surprise guest—Santa Claus—the American teen announced her arrival with poise beyond her years.

    2. Win #10 – October 25, 2014: Giant Slalom, Sölden, Austria

In the traditional season opener, Shiffrin held a razor-thin 0.09-second lead after Run 1 to tie Austria’s Anna Fenninger (now Veith) for gold. It marked her first-ever giant slalom victory, proving her technical mastery extended beyond slalom.

    3. Win #16 – November 28, 2015: Slalom, Aspen, USA

On home snow, a 20-year-old Shiffrin delivered a masterclass, winning by 3.07 seconds—the largest margin in women’s World Cup slalom history. It was a statement of dominance in her signature discipline.

    4. Win #46 – December 2, 2018: Super-G, Lake Louise, Canada

After just seven prior super-G starts, Shiffrin conquered the speed event on a course where she’d podiumed in downhill the year before. The victory made her the first skier—male or female—to win in all six World Cup disciplines.

    5. Win #52 – January 5, 2019: Slalom, Zagreb, Croatia

Crowned “Snow Queen” for the fourth time, Shiffrin won her seventh consecutive slalom, tying her personal streak during a record-breaking 2018/19 season that saw her claim 17 victories—still the single-season record.

    6. Win #67 – December 14, 2020: Giant Slalom, Courchevel, France

Returning after a 10-month hiatus following the tragic death of her father, Jeff Shiffrin, an emotional Mikaela crossed the line in tears. “It’s bittersweet,” she said. The win was a tribute—and a testament to her resilience.

    7. Win #73 – January 11, 2022: Slalom, Schladming, Austria

On the same slope where she won her first World Championship medal in 2013, Shiffrin stormed through Run 2 to defeat Petra Vlhová and claim her 47th slalom victory—surpassing Stenmark’s record for most wins in a single discipline.

    8. Win #80 – December 29, 2022: Slalom, Semmering, Austria

Shiffrin completed a hat-trick in Semmering with her 50th career slalom win, finishing ahead of teammate Paula Moltzan for the first U.S. 1-2 in women’s slalom since 1971.

    9. Win #82 – January 8, 2023: Giant Slalom, Kranjska Gora, Slovenia

Rebounding from a rare sixth-place finish the day prior, Shiffrin dominated to tie Lindsey Vonn’s women’s record of 82 wins—a symbolic passing of the torch between American legends.

    10. Win #83 – January 24, 2023: Giant Slalom, Kronplatz, Italy

Just 16 days later, Shiffrin broke Vonn’s record at a venue where she once DNF’d in 2018. She followed it with another GS win the next day (#85), launching a historic sprint toward Stenmark’s overall mark.

From a Santa-watched debut to tear-streaked comebacks and record-shattering sweeps, these 10 victories encapsulate Shiffrin’s evolution: prodigy, pioneer, record-breaker, and unbreakable spirit.

Now, with 101 wins and counting, the Levi slalom on November 15 could deliver #102—and another chapter in a career that keeps rewriting the impossible.
